Respighi (1879-1936)
Description:
Respighi is one of the pioneers of instrumental music in modern Italian music, known for his "Roman Trilogy. The three suites are composed of four pieces, and Respighi has transformed simple lute pieces into expressive and resonant music. The most important of these is the elegant melody, which is the most beautiful of the three. The third suite, which includes the elegant "Siciliano," is the most frequently performed of the three suites, while the "Concerto in the Ancient Style," composed in 1908, is in the style of the "concerto concertos" of the Baroque period. When he published the piece, Respighi, who was critical of his early works, stated that "I revised an anonymous composer's work," and later confessed that he had actually composed it himself. The violin sings a technical melody in this fascinating work. In this performance, the conductor Salvatore di Vittorio's own comparative revision is used. Naxos Japan
