These mess kits were produced mainly in the 1960's during the Vietnam war, but the design designated 'M-1942' remained unchanged mostly. The American doctrine in mind for these was for feeding company sized elements in proper field kitchens as opposed to direct front line combat elements. As long as your not dodging barrages, these mess kits are perfectly suited to your outdoor needs.
Made from stainless steel these are stove compatible and tough to boot. To use just flick the D-ring down and pull pressure outwards on the handle so it can swing open. The kit separates into a pan with a long handle to cook with and a dual channel tray to serve food in. A bonus to these more rear echelon mess kits is there are no hard to reach corners making them easy to clean. All used sustenance components are display/prop/collectable only and not for consumption use.
