Il Complesso Barocco; Alan Curtis
Description:
The Glossa Cabinet series reissues the classic recordings of Alan Curtis (1934-2015), an American conductor who studied with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam and is credited with the revival of Handel and Baroque opera. Curtis founded the Dutch antique music ensemble Il Complesso Barocco (formerly I Febi Almonici), which performs three composers, Dindia, Marenzio, and Monteverdi, in the famous tragicomedy "The Faithful Lamb" by Italian poet and playwright Giovanni Battista Guarini. This is a collection of love madrigales with music to the same scene from the tragicomedy "The Faithful Shepherd" by Italian poet & playwright Giovanni Battista Guarini. The title "Silvio and Dorinda" is taken from a character in the play. Tokyo M-Plus
