Tank and the Bangus, a soul band from New Orleans that has been getting a lot of attention across the country since winning the 2017 TINY DESK CONTEST, finally makes their major label debut. This album, "Green Balloon," is their second album in total, six years since their first album, "Think Tank," was released in 2013, and is their first major label release on Verve Forecast. This album represents the musical evolution of Tank and the Bangas, expressing their unique vision with the help of a distinguished group of producers including Jack Splash, Mark Batson, Zeitoven, Louis Rustic, and Robert Glasper. Lead singer Tariona "Tank" Ball said, "'Green Balloon' was one of the first songs I wrote. Green Balloon is the big sister to our first album, Think Tank. Think Tank' was 12 years old and 'Green Balloon' was 16 years old, and we started having sex. I'm a girl right there.The band, Bangus, on the other hand, says that "this album is like a color," and that "there's nothing wrong with us recording all of our influences on the record, because we're not stuck in one column." Ball adds. When we're making a record, we're just making it. And we never say: 'That's too bluesy. It's too bluesy. It's a little too country. It's too hip-hop. And we never say, 'That's a little too bluesy. That's the way the song is, that's the direction it's going, so let's just push the feeling of the song and get it done, and it feels good.
