ISHKAR and Skateistan have joined forces to create a limited capsule collection of handmade Afghan rugs — where age-old craft meets contemporary design, and artistry becomes a vehicle for impact.

30% of proceeds from the collection will be donated to Skateistan, helping provide safe spaces, skateboarding programs and education for children in at-risk communities.

The Parwana flatweave tapestry, meaning butterfly, is a brightly-coloured design that evokes the beauty of Afghanistan's native flora, against the vibrant curves of a modern skate ramp. Also available as an area rug.

Spun from raw Ghazni wool, this tapestry has been finely handwoven by master weavers in the city of Mazar-e Sharif in Afghanistan. Each one comes with a fabric tube casing sewn along the top to facilitate hanging onto a rod, which you can mount onto two brackets secured to the wall.
