Between 1965 and 1972 an owl adorned the crest of LUFC. Previously the town's crest was the club's emblem and since owls featured heavily on that original, one was chosen for the new badge. Since Don Revie believed that birds were bad luck the crest was completely reconfigured, and the owl removed, in 1972.
